Vancouver hoopers are in for a special weekend at Simon Fraser University on August 19-20 as the Ball Don’t Stop Pro Series presented by Applewood Auto Group makes its debut in British Columbia. This first of its kind youth camp will be led by three NBA pro’s and will be conducted in partnership with the Athelite Basketball Academy. Boston Celtics guard and Pacific Northwest native Payton Pritchard will lead day one of training, with 76ers guard De’Anthony Melton and Sacramento Kings guard Terence Davis leading day two of the camp. This camp marks the first time that multiple NBA players are in Vancouver, BC to provide training and instruction to youth basketball players since 2017. The final day of the camp will conclude with three major showcase games featuring the top high school boys and girls players in the province and a pro am showcase in the main event. Payton Pritchard was drafted 26th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Celtics. The 6’0 guard has had some great moments in his young career playing alongside All-NBA stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Over his first three years in the league Pritchard has averaged 7 points per game in 15 minutes a night and had some great moments throughout the regular season and playoffs. The Portland, Oregon native had some big games during the Celtics 2022 NBA Finals run. Pritchard’s incredible work ethic is something young players can learn so much from. He will be leading the ball handling, shooting and finishing series on day one of the camp.
After going 46th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, De’Anthony Melton has carved out a great role for himself in the NBA. This past season he put up 10 points and 4 rebounds per game playing next to James Harden and Joel Embiid on the Sixers. The 6’2 California native has developed a reputation as a defensive pest and three point shooter over these last few years. He will be leading the defensive series in this camp in addition to covering the shooting and “little things” that are so important in basketball.
After going undrafted in 2019, Terence Davis put up 7.5 points off the bench for our home country Raptors and was named to the All-Rookie Second Team. The 6’4 guard has now found a home with the Sacramento Kings where he has the ability to come off the bench and change games with his shot making and defense. This past postseason he had the defensive assignment of disrupting Stephen Curry. The Mississippi native and former Ole Miss Rebel is simply a hooper who does it all. He will be breaking down the art of scoring throughout this camp, but also touching on defense, finishing and what it takes to become a pro.
